About the Book
This anthology brings together many of the more significant contributions to Cartesian scholarship, some of which reach as far back as the 1930's. Altogether, there are well over 100 detailed analyses and discussions of numerous salient aspects of Descartes' promethean legacy.Volume I is devoted to questions of Cartesian methods and epistemology, and volumes II and III concentrate on his metaphysics, the keystone of the edifice. Descartes saw his system stretching beyond that of philosophy into mathematics and science and this is reflected within volume IV.
A number of the articles are classics of Cartesian scholarship. In addition, there are several new articles especially written for the collection. The introduction to each volume comprise a coherent view of the Cartesian System which will be of vital interest to scholars of his philosophy.
